Fantastic Professional Debut for Connor Syme
Connor Syme began his professional career in style at The Portugal Masters on the European Tour. Although this was his first outing as a professional he showed no signs of allowing the occasion to affect his play. In what was one of the best debut performances on The European Tour in recent years Connor shot rounds of 68,69,68 and 67 to finish on a total of 12 under par and a tie for 12th place. It was a packed leader board but after 12 pars to start his last round it maybe looked like it just wasn’t going to fall for Connor but down the home stretch he lit up the last seven holes with birdies on the 12th, 13th, 15th and 17th to climb up the leaderboard. It was a truly impressive display from the young Scotsman who only made three bogeys all week.
Connor said after his round on Sunday “I really enjoyed the week and I’m very happy with the way I played throughout the tournament. I’m proud of the way I remained patient and didn’t push too hard especially when the pins were quite tight. It’s great to get my professional career off to a positive start and I can’t wait for the next event”
“We’re very proud of Connor and with what he has achieved this week, he looked so comfortable on the course and took everything in his stride. We are confident he has a bright future ahead of him” said Mark McDonnell.
