Modest! Golf’s debut signing Guido Migliozzi has recorded his first European Tour victory at the Magical Kenya Open presented by Absa. The Qualifying School graduate was in uncharted territory at Karen Country Club, playing just his 14th European Tour event but showed nerves of steel down the back nine to claim his maiden European Tour title.

Having previously won three times on the Alps Tour, Guido used this experience to shoot rounds of 67, 68, 64 and 69 for a minus 16 total to take the title by a single stroke ahead of playing partner Adri Arnaus and South Africans Louis de Jager and Justin Harding. The victory puts Guido inside the top 30 in the Race to Dubai rankings.

Migliozzi follows in the footsteps of Major Champions Seve Ballesteros, Ian Woosnam and Trevor Immelman in winning this event on its debut on the European Tour and becomes the second consecutive Italian winner after Lorenzo Gagli took the title in 2018.

Guido commented "I like this moment, I like the pressure. I love playing with a lot of people looking at me and a lot of cameras. There was a lot of pressure on the course today.  After the birdie at the 12th I was leading but it was tough. I just kept patient towards the end, that was it.

“I must take this opportunity to thank all my sponsors, my family and everyone who has supported me along the way’.

Director of Modest Golf Management Mark McDonnell commented ‘We are so pleased for Guido to record his first European Tour victory in Kenya. He is an incredible young man and we are delighted to represent him’.

Founder of Modest Golf Niall Horan went on to say ‘I’m so proud of Guido today, he has always represented Modest Golf so well and today he is a European Tour winner. Guido is one of the hardest working young professionals I have worked with, focusing so hard on every aspect of his game. I am so happy that hard work is paying off and am delighted for Guido and the whole Migliozzi family’.

Guido is sponsored by TaylorMade Golf, Galvin Green, Your Golf Travel, Golfposer and represents Golf della Montecchia.

Guido travels to Malaysia this week to compete in the Maybank Championships at the Saujana Golf and Country Club.
