K Club to host €10,000 Irish Golfer Shootout supported by BMW & Modest! Golf
After years of successfully running one of Ireland’s biggest amateur golf series, Irish Golfer Events are delighted to announce the launch of their first professional only event – the Irish Golfer Shootout supported by BMW and Modest! Golf.
The exciting one-day tournament takes place on Tuesday July 21st on the Palmer Ryder Cup Course at The K Club and will have a guaranteed prize fund of €10,000.
The event will be open to all male and female Irish professionals from all tours and categories as well as the 2019/20 Team Ireland panels from the GUI and ILGU.
Irish Golfer Shootout supported by BMW and Modest! Golf is the first event of its kind to be staged in Ireland offering competitive action to our home-based professionals and high-performance amateur golfers who have seen their playing schedules postponed by Covid-19.
“We’re delighted to be able to provide a platform for our leading players who have been starved of competitive action this season,” said Peter Finnan, Director at Irish Golfer. “We have run a very successful event series for amateur players for three years now and always wanted to explore a professional only event. We looked to try and join some of our key partnerships together to run an all-inclusive event with a great prize fund. “BMW Ireland and Modest! Golf are two huge supporters of professional golf worldwide and we were delighted to be in a position to get them involved in the tournament.”
Modest! Golf owner, Niall Horan, whose management company boasts the likes of world number 15 Tyrrell Hatton and Cavan’s LPGA Tour star, Leona Maguire, is pleased to be able to lend his support to providing playing opportunities to some of Ireland’s leading players.
“We’re thrilled to be able to support the development of Irish golfers with this event,” said Horan, whose company already partners the ISPS Handa World Invitational Men | Women at Galgorm Spa & Golf Resort. “The team at Irish Golfer are a major supporter of home-grown talent in Ireland while everyone knows how proud I am of my country’s sporting success. “Ireland has produced a conveyor belt of Major champions in recent years but for that to continue, it’s imperative our young players are given the chances to take that next step in their careers. We hope this event can be a stepping-stone in doing just that.”
Modest! Golf Director, Mark McDonnell, added;
“We’re so delighted to be able to work with BMW Ireland and Irish Golfer Magazine on this event. “It’s been a particularly tough time for professional golfers trying to break through but this event on such a super course like The Palmer at the K Club provides a great opportunity for players to recapture their competitive edge and gives them something to work towards. We have great ties with Ireland as a company already and look forward to strengthening those links through this event into the future”.
BMW Ireland’s Tony Casey is equally pleased to be able to get behind this innovative tournament that’s sure to be welcomed by Ireland’s fairway stars. “For many years BMW has been synonymous with professional golf worldwide and we are now excited about supporting the home-grown talent in Ireland through our sponsorship of this new and exciting event,” Casey said.
